INFORMATION ON OUR ANNUAL ACTIVITIES
Each year we organize several activities for which participants can obtain awards.
General Information
The following pieces of information apply for all our activities:
- All awards are open to OP, SWL and BCL
- Application with log extract. (No QSLs necessary). List in alphabetical order, please.
- No band or mode restrictions.
- Award fee for a paper award: 5 Euro or 8 US-Dollars or 6 IRCs (but only the very new ones!) Please, avoid paper applications.
- No award fee if you apply for a pdf-version of the awards to print them out yourself. Then apply via e-mail to [email protected]
-All awards will be multi-color awards. They have a different design each year. The number of stations worked/heard will be entered in the award.

For ecological reasons we would prefer sending the awards digitally!
Castle Hunter Award
This award can be obtained each year anew for contacts with or heards of stations from at least 20 different castles worldwide. There is a different design for each year. The starting year is 2005. Just send in a list of twenty castles worked in the respective year or a declaration that you worked/heard a minimum of twenty castles in the respective year. There is only a free pdf version of the award and there is only one award class.

Radio Activity Award ( always in January)
In January of the respective year work or hear as many DXCC entities as possible. For the award a minimum of 20 DXCC entities is required. Deadline for application is always February 28 of the year. List in alphabetical order of DXCC.
RAA Award Winners since 2006
Older awards (starting in 2006) can still be applied for provided that the requirements have been fulfilled in January of the respective year
Antarctica Activity Award (always in February; started in 2013)
In February of the respective year work or hear as many stations with a WAP number as possible. For the award a minimum of 5 WAP-stations is required. Deadline for application is always March 31 of the year.
AAA Award Winners since 2013
Older awards (starting in 2013) can still be applied for provided that the requirements have been fulfilled in February of the respective year.
European Spring Award (always in May)
In May of the respective year work or hear as many European DXCC-entities as possible. Be aware that only European entities do count. For European applicants a minimum of 20 and for non-European applicants a minimum of 10 entities is required for the award. Deadline for application: June 30 of the year. List in alphabetical order of DXCC.

Older awards (starting in 2006) can still be applied for provided that the requirements have been fulfilled in May of the respective year
Head Quarters Award (always in July)
Applicants must work a minimum of 10 different head quarter stations during the IARU HF World Championship in July. Each head quarter only counts once, irrespective of band or mode. The number of stations worked will be entered on the award.
The award is available as a pdf only and there is no award fee.
Deadline of the application: August 31 of the year. List in alphabetical order of HQ Station.

Older awards (starting in 2012) can still be applied for provided that the requirements have been fulfilled in the respective year
Lights Hunter Award (always in August)
During the month of August of the respective year work or hear as many amateur radio stations operating from lighthouses or lightships. A minimum number of ten stations is required for the award. The log extract must include the lighthouse name or number (preferably ARLHS number). Deadline for application: September 30 of the year. List in alphabetical order of callsign.

Older awards (starting in 2006) can still be applied for provided that the requirements have been fulfilled in August of the respective year
The Day of German Unity Award (October 3)
On October 3 of every year, Germany celebrates the day of German unity. To obtain the award, Germans must work or hear 10 different German stations, other European stations must work/hear 5 different German stations, for DX stations the number of German stations to work or hear is 3.
BRF On Tour Award (every year/starting in 2013)
Every year many BRF members are on tour to operate from WWFFs, lighthouses, castles and islands. Those of you who have worked at least five different BRF members operating portable in the respective calendar year can apply for the On Tour Award.
Activators who are members of BRF can receive the award for having activated at least five different locations in the calendar year.

ANNUAL ISLANDS AWARD ( every year)
To support the IOTA award program, we offer this new challenge to all interested island hunters (OP or SWL), starting in the calendar year 2011.
In the respective calendar year, work or hear amateur radio stations operating from as many different IOTA groups as possible. Each group only counts once in the year.
List in alphabetical order of IOTA numbers.
Award Classes:
Basic: 10 IOTA groups
Bronze: 25 IOTA groups
Silver: 50 IOTA groups
Gold: 75 IOTA groups
Diamond: 100 IOTA groups
Broadcast Band Listeners (BCL) can obtain the award for hearing stations from 5/10/15/20/25 islands.
Winners of the Island Award since 2011
Older awards (starting in 2011) can still be applied for provided that the requirements have been fulfilled in the respective year. But you will only receive on award (the highest level achieved).
Certificate of Achievement
OPs or SWLs who have worked at least five of our annually recurring temporary awards in one calendar year can, upon request, receive the Certificate of Achievement for the respective calendar year. Just send an e-mail listing the awards you have received together with the Award number. For this Award, the Annual Islands Award only counts once, regardless of the level that has been achieved.
